Tomte | by Paprika Press

"Tomte" is a beautiful two-color lino print uniquely designed and carved by Paprika Press.
Your original print is one of a limited signed edition of 113. Great as a gift or greeting card!

The design was created with an inspiration from the traditional Swedish folklore figures of the Tomte.
Each block is hand-drawn, hand-carved and hand-printed. In this case, the first color, red was printed by hand with a spoon and the second color, black, printed over the red.

The print is made on an 8 x 8.5 inch hand torn, deckled edge paper. It is printed on Rives BFK lightweight natural color cotton stock.

MORE ON THE TOMTE

The Tomte is a traditional Swedish and Scandinavian bit of folklore that focusses on little Christmas Gnomes. Traditionally, the Tomte are hardworking folk that watch over the barn animals through the year, especially the pigs. On Christmas they hope to get only one item as a thanks - a bowl of porridge with a heaping pile of butter. If they don't they are said to get angry, playing mischievous tricks on the owners and their livestock!

*Please note - all items ship within 3-5 business unless custom orders are requested.
